Slot: Nunez’s form is up and down, and we could be up against PSG

Rhino: Agencies – Liverpool’s Dutch coach, Arne Sloot, has challenged his Uruguayan player Darwin Nunez to prove that he is one of the best strikers in the world, ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League clash with French side Lille.

Portuguese striker Diogo Jota will be out for several weeks, Slotte announced today, which could give Nunez more opportunity to make his presence felt in the Reds’ offensive line.

“I don’t think it’s the first time he’s found himself in this situation,” Slotte said during a press conference: “I don’t think it’s the first time Darwin has found himself in this situation, when Jota is absent. “But he’s in a good place, because he scored two goals against Brentford.

He continued: “We have four strikers who are ready to start, and Darwin is one of them. “Obviously if one of them gets injured, it increases Darwin’s chance of getting more playing time.

Slotte recently admitted that he found it difficult to get the best out of the player, whom he rated as one of the brightest young talents in the world, when he was at Benfica.
