According to the Spanish newspaper “AS”, the international and European football federations do not accept the delay in appointing a new president of the Spanish Federation after the suspension of its former president, Pedro Rocha, last July.
It indicated that although three months have passed since Rocha’s suspension, his successor has not yet been appointed, which has angered global sports bodies.
Garcia Silvero, the former legal director, confirmed that “action will be taken” if a new president is not appointed by the end of the year.
The situation threatens to disqualify Spanish clubs from participating in European competitions, and Spain could lose the rights to host the 2030 World Cup.
These threats are expected to accelerate the decision-making process in the Spanish Federation, as it would be disastrous to impose sanctions on the Spanish national team and La Liga clubs.
