Senator: Israel used an American-made bomb to kill Nasrallah

Rhino: Agencies – The bomb used by Israel to kill Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut last week was a US-made guided bomb, a US senator said on Sunday.
In the first American statement about the type of weapon used in the attack, the chairman of the Air Affairs Subcommittee of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Mark Kelly, said during an interview with NBC, that Israel used the Mark 84 bomb Two thousand pounds (900 kilograms).
Kelly added: “We monitor the increased use of guided munitions, Joint Direct Attack Munitions, and we continue to provide those weapons. That 2,000-pound bomb that was used to kill Nasrallah was a Mark 84,” Kelly said.
On Saturday, the Israeli military said it had killed Nasrallah in a bombing of the group’s central command headquarters in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
The IDF declined to say what weapons were used in the attack. The U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) has yet to comment.
Joint Direct Attack Munitions convert ordinary unguided bombs into guided weapons using wings and a GPS guidance system.
