Rhino: Follow-up – A cholera outbreak has spread in the localities of Wad Banda and Al-Nahud in West Kordofan State, resulting in 30 deaths and 800 cases, spread across more than 25 villages in the two localities, according to the Sahih Sudan news website, which cited local medical sources who confirmed that these figures are preliminary and likely to rise due to the difficulty of accessing the affected areas and the absence of investigation and emergency response teams.
The Preparatory Committee of the Sudanese Doctors’ Union announced in a statement on Monday that Al-Mazroub Hospital had admitted 418 cholera cases, including 61 in the overcrowded isolation center. The hospital recorded 29 new cases in just 24 hours, while the death toll rose to 14 over the past few days.
