Rhino: Agencies – Lamine Yamal cut the ribbon on his first Champions League goal on Thursday evening, during Barcelona’s match against Monaco in the opening round.
Yamal scored Barcelona’s equalizer in the 28th minute, his first since the beginning of his career in the Champions League.
According to the “Opta” statistics network, Yamal became the second youngest player to score a goal for Barcelona in the history of the Champions League, at the age of 17 years and 68 days.
Yamal was unable to reach Ansu Fati’s record, which he scored at the age of 17 years and 40 days.
The Spanish winger also managed to find the back of the net for the second consecutive match, for the first time in a Barcelona shirt, in his 57th appearance.
Yamal’s goal came despite Barcelona being down a man since the tenth minute, after Erik Garcia was sent off.
