Sudanese embassy in Chad prevents humanitarian organization staff from obtaining visas

Rhino: Agencies – The Minister of Social Affairs in the Civil Administration in South Darfur, “Hafez al-Saleh”, revealed the difficulties faced by humanitarian organizations trying to bring humanitarian aid to Darfur through the Adré border crossing, in obtaining entry visas from the Sudanese embassy in Chad.
He said that the government announced the opening of the Adré border crossing with Chad, but did not issue any entry visas for the organizations’ employees until now, adding: “After the announcement of the opening of the crossing, the Sudanese embassy in Chad was supposed to process visa procedures for the organizations’ employees, but so far no employee has received an entry visa.
“Al-Saleh” stated that employees of six organizations had to enter without visas. He said that one of the employees spoke to him about the visa issue, saying: ‘How will you be able to enter without any visas? Look at my passport, there is no visa.’ The minister said that he assured him by saying: ”You came for humanitarian work and to save Sudanese people from hunger, so you will not face any trouble.
