RSF condemns the targeting by army aircraft of the workers city at Jili refinery

Khartoum: Rhino – On Friday, Sudanese army warplanes launched air strikes on the residential city of engineers and technicians working at the Jili refinery north of Khartoum Bahri, using missiles suspected to be equipped with toxic gases, causing injuries, and dozens of workers entering into severe respiratory suffocation, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) condemned the targeting of civilians in locations with no military presence.

The RSF condemned the targeting of civilians in locations without a military presence by the army’s warplanes, and called on international human rights bodies and UN-mandated committees of inquiry to play their role and investigate the use of internationally prohibited weapons through airstrikes carried out by the army’s warplanes, “under direct orders from the leaders of the terrorist organization of the so-called Islamic Movement in Sudan.”

The RSF added in a statement on Friday: “The corrupt ‘power gang’ and the army generals led by the butcher Al-Burhan bear full responsibility for expanding the scope of the war and exposing civilian lives and the environment to the dangers of toxic and internationally prohibited weapons,” noting that the systematic and repeated targeting of the refinery and the staff reveals the plan of the gang controlling the army to destroy what remains of the Sudanese people’s capabilities and infrastructure.

The statement said: “Al-Burhan and the gang of generals seek to ignite a comprehensive fire, in response to chaotic demands from the mouthpieces of the old regime and terrorist brigades, in attempts that reveal the state of despair and defeat and proceed to revenge and spread chaos.”

The statement continued: “The destruction of the Jili refinery and the targeting of workers in a number of public facilities are full-fledged war crimes that must be addressed in accordance with international and humanitarian law, and our forces will not hesitate to respond decisively to the behavior of the cowardly terrorists, and the hands of our forces will reach the killers and end the reigns of domination and control soon in fulfillment of our pledge with our people and to complete the struggles of Sudanese people for democratic transformation, building a state of citizenship, freedom, justice and equality, and building an army that protects our land and people and is not interested in power and politics.
