Guterres: Lack of accountability for killing of UN staff in Gaza is unacceptable

Rhino: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said on Wednesday that the lack of accountability for the killing of UN staff and humanitarian workers in the Gaza Strip is “totally unacceptable”.
He added in an interview with Reuters that a UN peacekeeping force would not be the “best solution” for Haiti, where armed gangs control much of the capital and have extended their influence to surrounding areas, exacerbating a humanitarian crisis of mass displacement, sexual violence and widespread hunger.
Ahead of the annual gathering of world leaders at the UN General Assembly this month, Guterres summarized the past year as “very harsh and difficult.
The year was dominated by the war in Gaza, which began just two weeks after leaders left New York following last year’s meeting, when militants from the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) killed 1,200 people and took some 250 others hostage in the Gaza Strip, according to Israeli statistics.
