Rhino: Agencies – Sudanese army warplanes carried out airstrikes on Sunday morning on the city of El-Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan state.

Press sources quoted eyewitnesses from the city as saying that the western area of El-Obeid city witnessed an exchange of artillery shelling between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, without causing casualties among citizens.

The clashes erupted in the southwestern area of El Obeid city on Saturday after a period of calm, due to attempts by the army to redeploy and expand the security circle in the Al Salam neighborhood by digging new trenches in the area where the RSF are present.

Calm returned to El Obeid this afternoon after the army forces returned to the 5th Infantry Division headquarters, reopening the large market and the crop exchange, while the city still suffers from a transportation and liquidity crisis.
