The African Peace and Security Council ties the resolution of the crisis in Sudan to an inclusive political process

Khartoum: Rhino – The African Union Peace and Security Council affirmed in its 1293rd meeting today, Monday, that an inclusive Sudanese-led political process is the only one capable of ending the crisis. Emphasizing that without it, civilians will remain the main victims.

Commenting on the outcomes of the meeting, Egyptian journalist Asmaa Al-Husseini said in an interview with Al Jazeera that the African Peace and Security Council meeting ended contrary to the expectations of the Sudanese army and government in Port Sudan, who had hoped for the lifting of Sudan’s suspension from the African Union.

She added: “This was because the government did not meet the required conditions, the most important of which are the existence of a civilian government or the end of the war thru an agreed-upon political process”.
