Humanitarian conditions worsen in besieged Bara, army carries out systematic looting against citizens

Bara: Rhino – Citizens of the city of Bara in North Kordofan say that the city is experiencing its worst days. After army forces and allied militias “Baroun – Joint – Sudan Shield” took control of the city and immediately began committing crimes of looting and pillaging against citizens, under the watchful eye of the army command in the city and in El Obeid,

After fleeing to El Obeid, citizens found their cars and property being sold in the city’s looting markets without being able to recover them after the army considered them “war booty,” with the approval of state officials and army commanders, in a new legal precedent.

While a group of citizens actively collected donations to provide food for the residents of Bara and displaced persons in neighboring areas, others collected donations worth 180 billion in support of the army, in defiance of the city’s emergency rooms.

Meanwhile, those inside the city were reduced to skeletons as a result of starvation caused by the army’s ban on entering and leaving the city, creating difficult conditions even for the displaced people of Bara in Um Dam Haj Ahmad and other villages, where several deaths from starvation have been reported.

The citizens appealed to the honorable people of Bara to stand up and provide assistance to the city’s residents and displaced persons, and to refrain from providing any support to military or militia groups under any circumstances.

They urged the city’s residents not to join any militia groups or take up arms and called on their brothers in El Obeid to pressure the army leadership to lift the siege on the city, allow citizens freedom of movement, and allow humanitarian organizations to enter to provide aid to those in need.
