UN: Civilians killed and wounded in Mellit, North Darfur, as the army bombs the town

Rhino: Agencies – The United Nations Mission in Sudan (UNMIS) said on Tuesday that clashes resumed between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the town of Mellit, part of Mellit locality in North Darfur, on 2 September.
The situation report issued by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) on Tuesday reported that army forces carried out air strikes targeting the town of Mellit. Field teams estimated that 17 families were displaced from the neighborhoods of Al Qubba and Al Daim, and sought refuge in locations within Mellit locality.
There have also been reports of civilian deaths and injuries. The situation remains tense and unpredictable.
The Displacement Detection Matrix Network announced that it is relying on remote interviews with key informants and cannot conduct further verification at this time, but will continue to monitor developments closely, and pledged to provide regular updates on displacement and population movement across Sudan.
