Rhino: Agencies – US Central Command said on Saturday that its troops carried out a joint raid with Iraqi security forces in the west of the country in the early morning hours of August 29, killing 15 Islamic State militants.
“The Islamic State operatives were armed with multiple weapons, grenades and suicide vests,” CENTCOM said.
There was no indication that civilians were injured or killed in the raid, she said.
Two U.S. officials, speaking on condition of anonymity on Saturday, said five U.S. military personnel were wounded during the operation and one of the wounded was transported for further treatment. Two were also fatigued during the operation, one of whom was also removed from the area for further treatment. All personnel are in stable condition, the officials said.
