WFP: Second aid convoy crosses from Chad to Darfur

UNITED NATIONS: RAINO – The World Food Program (WFP) said its second aid convoy crossed from Chad into Sudan’s Darfur region via the Adré border crossing on Sunday.
The convoy was carrying 205 metric tons of food for about 17,000 people, WFP said.
The food aid will be delivered to communities across Darfur, and distributions will begin as soon as the trucks arrive, WFP said.
He further explained that additional trucks of WFP food aid are being loaded in Chad to cross into Darfur as soon as possible.
He emphasized that he has enough food for half a million people, ready to be transported to Sudan through the Adré crossing.
WFP emphasized that humanitarian assistance, including food and nutritional supplies, shelter and health items, must be rapidly and extensively transported through all border crossings and humanitarian corridors to communities facing catastrophic levels of hunger.
