Hemedti appreciates the efforts of the mediators in the Geneva humanitarian talks

Khartoum: Rhino – The commander of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), General Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, praised on Saturday the efforts made by the mediators in the Geneva negotiations on ‘stopping the war, facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid to those in need, and enhancing the protection of civilians,’ describing them as appreciated.

‘We are truly grateful to the mediation team led by the United States of America, co-hosted by Switzerland and Saudi Arabia, and monitored by the United Nations, the African Union, the United Arab Emirates and the Arab Republic of Egypt,’ Daglo said in a tweet on his “X” account on Saturday.

The RSF commander welcomed the efforts to form the inter-mediary group, hoping that it will help bring peace and stability to Sudan.

‘Our delegation participated in the Geneva negotiations with a sincere desire and real will to reach results that contribute to alleviating the humanitarian suffering of our people who are facing catastrophic conditions, but the absence of the Armed Forces delegation kidnapped by the Islamic Movement from the negotiating platform hindered all efforts made by the mediation and will be a reason for prolonging the war and doubling the suffering of Sudanese people, and such indifferent attitudes should not be tolerated for the lives of Sudanese people and their expectations for the future.

Hemedti emphasized his forces’ commitment to their pledges at the Switzerland meeting, especially the response to the simplified risk system to facilitate the provision of humanitarian aid, and ’making every effort to achieve everything to mitigate the effects of this catastrophe on the Sudanese people who are grieving because of this war.’

He added: ‘We will not hesitate to engage positively with any serious initiative to end the war and build Sudan on new and just foundations, lifting injustice and marginalization from all Sudanese peoples, as we did not start this war and do not wish to continue it, and we will do our best to stop it to ensure that it is the last war in Sudan.
