RSF welcomes the entry of humanitarian aid to Kordofan and Darfur through Adri crossing

Khartoum: Rhino – The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) welcomed on Wednesday the entry of humanitarian aid to affected people in Darfur and Kordofan states through the Adré border crossing, as part of the efforts of the Geneva mediation and the international community to deliver humanitarian aid and enhance the protection of civilians, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) confirmed that more than 12 aid-laden trucks, including trucks from the World Food Program (WFP) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), crossed into Darfur in Sudan from Chad through the Adré border crossing on Wednesday.

The World Food Program (WFP) said its trucks that entered Darfur were loaded with sorghum, legumes, oil and rice that will benefit around 13,000 people at risk of starvation in the Kerenk area of West Darfur, while the International Organization for Migration (IOM) said the essential relief items delivered to Sudan will support more than 12,000 people in need.

In a statement late Wednesday night, the RSF renewed its call for the use of the Adri crossing and the airports of Nyala, El Geneina and Zalingei to deliver humanitarian aid, adding: ‘With the increasing urgent humanitarian need and the humanitarian situation reaching famine level, relief trucks entered Darfur today through the Adri crossing, which is a very important step, which finds all our support, support, facilitation and protection.’

The humanitarian situation caused by the war ignited by the Islamic Movement and its elements in the army has brought the humanitarian situation to an unprecedented level, which requires redoubling international efforts to save the lives of civilians.

The statement continued: ‘We affirm our full readiness to cooperate with the concerned parties working in the humanitarian field, and with the same responsibility, our forces will continue to work by all means to achieve the aspirations of the Sudanese people for freedom, justice, equality and building the Sudanese state on new and just foundations.
