Rhino: Agencies – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said on Tuesday that the time has come to end the ongoing war in Gaza and ‘resort to the voice of reason and wisdom and uphold the language of peace and diplomacy,’ during a meeting with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in New Alamein.

During the meeting, El Sisi warned of ‘the danger of expanding the scope of the conflict regionally in a way that is difficult to imagine the consequences,’ and stressed that ‘the ceasefire in Gaza must be the beginning of a broader international recognition of the Palestinian state and the implementation of the two-state solution,’ according to a statement from the Presidency.

Blinken arrived in Egypt from Israel in an attempt to push for progress in talks scheduled for later this week on a Gaza ceasefire and hostage release, with key issues of contention unresolved.
