Rhino: Agencies – Tunisia’s National Guard said on Thursday that the coast guard recovered the bodies of 27 African migrants after two boats sank while trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea off the country’s coast. The two boats sank off the coast of Sfax, a departure point commonly used by African migrants.
Last month, the Tunisian coast guard recovered the bodies of about 30 migrants in two separate incidents as the migrants attempted to sail towards Europe. The National Guard said on Thursday that the coast guard rescued 87 people aboard the two boats that sank off Sfax.
Tunisia is struggling to cope with a migrant crisis that has reached an unprecedented level and has replaced Libya as the main point of departure for Tunisians and people from other African countries trying to reach Europe in hopes of a better life.
