Rhino: Agencies – Rescue operations continued in US state of Connecticut on Monday, after heavy rains caused flash floods on Sunday, and a state of emergency was declared after up to 10 inches or more than 25 centimeters of rain fell in a few hours. The heavy rainfall caused mudslides and washed away roads and bridges in the area north of New York City. A gas leak in Danbury, Connecticut, led to the evacuation of an apartment complex.
Hundreds of flights were cancelled at major airports in New York, and flooding caused some rail services to close as well.
