Dozens of civilians killed and wounded in the army’s bombing of North Darfur’s Mellit

Mellit: Rhino – On Monday, warplanes carried out a series of airstrikes in Mellit area in North Darfur state, killing and injuring dozens of civilians, including women and children – according to preliminary statistics – while rescue operations are still ongoing, according to eyewitnesses from the area.

The RSF condemned the aerial bombardment on populated neighborhoods and water stations in the area, saying in a statement on Monday: ‘The crimes of the air force against unarmed civilians coincide with the round of talks in Geneva and clearly reveal the submission of the kidnapped army leaders to the agenda of the terrorist Islamic movement, which does not want solutions that lose its control over the army, which represents its only tool to rule and dominate the necks of Sudanese people.

‘The blatant transgressions and chaotic practices of the Burhan gang and the terrorist brigades who are using Port Sudan as a room to manage the war, kill citizens and destroy the resources of our people make it imperative for us to take advanced positions to completely eliminate the remnant gang and free the army from the grip of terrorists so that it can exercise its professional role in protecting the country and preserving its resources without being dependent on any political party,’ the statement reads.

‘As we condemn in the strongest terms the barbaric behavior of the remnants and their collaborators in flagrant violation of all international laws and Geneva Conventions, we put the international and regional community in front of its responsibilities to condemn these ongoing crimes against our people,’ he added.
