Biden expressed his belief that an agreement is now on the horizon but cautioned that it is ‘not over yet.’ Biden wrote on social media: ‘No one in the region should take actions to undermine this process.’ He later told reporters he was optimistic about the prospects for a ceasefire. ‘Without going into details, as of an hour ago it was still on the table,’ he said on Friday evening. I’m optimistic. It’s not close to the end. There are a few more issues. I think we have a chance.’ Asked when the ceasefire would begin if an agreement is reached, Biden said: ‘That remains to be seen.’
