Sudanese resistance committees condemn the army’s bombing of a market in Khartoum

Khartoum: Rhino – The Sudanese Resistance Committees condemned on Friday the airstrikes carried out by the army air force on the central market in Khartoum, leaving dozens of people dead and injured, mostly women and children.

In a statement on Friday, the committees pointed out that the continued indiscriminate bombing by the army is a terrorist behavior, contrary to international norms, and a violation of human rights.

The statement said: ‘The bombing of civilians is a behavior that the Sudanese army has been practicing for decades, as it has been bombing civilians across Sudan under the pretext that they are incubators of the rebellion in South Sudan, Blue Nile, Nuba Mountains and Darfur, and continues to kill innocent people in a brutal manner that requires the intervention of the international family and human rights and humanitarian organizations.

He continued: ‘Despite the persistent and past international efforts to put an end to this war and end the suffering of civilians, the illegitimate Port Sudan government continues to persist despite repeated calls for it to join Geneva, which of course requires a clear condemnation by the international community of this criminal behavior’ (The committees stressed their rejection of the war, which has claimed the lives of innocent people in a brutal manner that requires the intervention of the international family and human rights and humanitarian organizations).

The committees affirmed their rejection of the war, which has claimed the lives of ‘huge’ numbers of civilians and destroyed the infrastructure and called for a swift end to the war and a return to negotiating platforms, stressing that its continuation exacerbates the crimes and violations.
