Young woman sentenced to death in Atbara on charges of collaborating with RSF

Khartoum: Rhino – Atbara Criminal Court sentenced a 24-year-old citizen, “Al-Durr Hamdoun Hamed Hammad” to death by hanging on Sunday, after she was accused of collaborating with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The Darfur Lawyers Association said that “Al-Dur” was arrested in Atbara city, after she arrived on the 13th of May last year with her family, and after searching her, papers and treatment prescriptions were found with the letterhead of the “therapeutic center”, where she worked as a laboratory technician, in the East Nile area, which is under the control of the RSF, and she was arrested, and a criminal complaint was filed against her under Articles (50 and 51 of the Criminal Code of 1991).
Elder Hamdoun supports her family, consisting of her sick mother and her brothers, as well as her uncle, a Sudanese army officer, on whom the family depended after the death of her father inside the 22nd Division in Babanusa several months ago.
In a statement on Sunday, the commission called on human rights organizations to show solidarity with the young woman, Eldar Hamdoun Hamed Hammad, and her family.
The statement reads: “It is worth noting that there are now more than one hundred and fifty people arrested and detained during random searches and arrests in the cities of Port Sudan, Atbara, Shendi and Dongla. After spending several months in detention, the arrested and detained are transferred to criminal prosecutions to open against them articles of crimes against the state, some fellow lawyers are volunteering and providing legal aid, the Commission calls on all fellow lawyers and human rights organizations to show solidarity with colleagues who represent the defence.
