Sudanese employers’ federation calls on Egyptian authorities to release its secretary-general

Khartoum: Rhino – The Federal Federation of Sudanese Employers condemned on Sunday what it described as the arbitrary detention of the Secretary General of the Federal Federation of Sudanese Employers, businessman Mr. “Aladdin Abdelhafiz Suleiman” by the Egyptian authorities, following a malicious complaint filed by the Port Sudan government authorities, according to the Federation.

The Federation said in a statement on Sunday that the arrest and detention of businessman Abdelhafiz Suleiman by the Egyptian authorities was carried out without charge – until the moment of writing the statement – and without reference to any offence committed by him.

The statement described the behavior of the Egyptian authorities as contrary to international norms, laws and humanitarian values, stressing that Mr Alaeddin followed all the necessary procedures to enter the Arab Republic of Egypt, where he was arrested.

The Federation held the Egyptian authorities fully responsible for the security and safety of the Secretary General of the Federal Union of Employers, and added: “We warn the Egyptian authorities against passing any political agenda and playing roles with the Port Sudan government, and we affirm that we will take all necessary measures to release him, and that if he is harmed, God forbid, we will retaliate, and we will not look on the humiliating step taken by the Egyptian government in coordination with the Port Sudan gang towards a Sudanese businessman who committed no crime or offence, except that he gave his country and his people in Northern State what they deserve.”

The statement called on the Egyptian authorities to release the Secretary General of the Federal Union of Employers immediately.
