The AU conference for Sudanese dialogue kicks off in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa: Rhino – The activities of the consultative meeting on Sudan, organized by the African Union and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), with Sudanese political forces, in preparation for the launch of a comprehensive dialogue, kicked off on Saturday.
The Coordination of Civil Democratic Forces (Taqaddam), the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), the Sudan Liberation Movement led by Abdel Wahid Mohamed Nour, the Arab Baath Socialist Party (originally), the Democratic Unionist Party (originally), and the Popular Congress Party (PCP) are participating in the meeting.
“These consultations aim to reach a Sudanese political dialogue that contributes to ending the war and building a sustainable peace, by addressing the main issues that made Sudan captive to wars, political instability and poverty, until the April 15 war that represented the peak of the Sudanese crisis, which our people pay a heavy price every day for its continuation,” said Khaled Omar Yusuf, a member of the leadership body of Taqaddam, in a press statement.
He added: “These consultations come at a time when the people of Sudan are looking forward to the Geneva negotiations, which we hope will culminate in a cessation of hostilities, the opening of humanitarian aid routes and serious arrangements for the protection of civilians, while ensuring the necessary monitoring mechanisms. Our country deserves peace, so let us go towards it with open hearts and minds and let us reject the voices of war and hatred that will only bring destruction to our country.)
Mr. Moussa Faki, Chairperson of the AU Commission, Mr. Warne Gbeho, Executive Secretary of IGAD, and Ambassador Tebelelo Bong, Chairperson of the African Peace and Security Council for August, addressed the meeting at its opening session.
