TAQADDOM launches a popular media campaign to demand an end to the war in Sudan

Khartoum: Rhino – The Coordination of Civil Democratic Forces (Taqaddam) launched on Thursday a popular media campaign to urge the Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces to respond positively to the US call for negotiations aimed at reaching a cessation of hostilities on the 14th of August in Geneva, Switzerland.

In a statement on Thursday, Taqaddam called on the Sudanese people to unite their voices to demand an immediate cessation of the war, and urged the leadership of the Armed Forces and RSF to go to Geneva not only to participate, but to ensure the implementation of all previous agreements and reach an immediate cessation of hostilities with binding monitoring mechanisms, arrangements for the delivery of humanitarian aid, and the protection of civilians.

As the war enters its sixteenth month, and the tragedies of killing, displacement, refugees, looting, hunger, attacks on civilians, destruction of infrastructure, and famine threaten to annihilate half of the Sudanese people, the war threatens to tear Sudan apart and threaten its regional and international environment, the campaign will include a number of activities and events to convey the voice of the Sudanese people who aspire to peace, freedom and justice and hope to end the suffering immediately and without delay.

The Coordination thanked the United States of America for the initiative, appreciated the role of Saudi Arabia and Switzerland in co-hosting the talks, and expressed its appreciation for the participation of the United Nations, the African Union, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates as observers to the talks.
