Sudanese army aircraft bombard Zamzam camp for displaced people with barrel bombs

North Darfur: Rhino – The Sudanese army warplanes bombed the “Zamzam” camp for displaced people in North Darfur state using barrel bombs at 2:30 am on Monday, targeting the area of field “12” in Zamzam “A” camp The first barrel did not explode, while the second resulted in property losses and partial collapse of some houses. The Sudan Liberation Forces Gathering (SLFG) condemned the attack in a statement.

In a statement on Monday, the SLF condemned the bombing of Zamzam camp, which is home to hundreds of thousands of civilians displaced from the scourge of war, and warned against targeting IDP camps by aircraft, noting that they are free of military targets and gatherings, and that targeting them is considered a war crime under international law.

This cowardly targeting comes days after the official declaration of famine in Zamzam camp by the US Famine Early Warning Network, and instead of the de facto government in Port Sudan assuming its responsibility towards the hungry people in Zamzam camp by sending humanitarian aid, it sent them barrel bombs by its armed forces’ aircraft to add to their hunger and fear.
