Rhino: Agencies – A count prepared by the “Displaced Persons Coordination” – independent – revealed that between 20 to 25 people died in refugee camps in Darfur, western Sudan, due to lack of food, while the United Nations declared on Friday, officially, a famine in the “Zamzam” camp, which is home to more than half a million people.

“These findings reflect the gravity of the humanitarian situation on the ground,” said Clementine Nkweta Salami, the humanitarian coordinator in Sudan. She called for urgent resources and unhindered humanitarian access from the parties to the conflict, adding: “If this does not happen, we will witness a more catastrophic situation.
