Rapid Support: We will only negotiate with the army and do not recognize the existence of a government in Sudan

Khartoum: Rhino – The Rapid Support Forces announced on Tuesday that they will only negotiate with the army leadership, and will not allow any institution to be involved in negotiations or talks to stop the war and ensure humanitarian access, stressing that there is no government in Sudan due to the coup of the 25th of October ‘2021’, and the subsequent constitutional collapse due to the war of the 15th of April.

In a statement on Tuesday, the RSF drew attention to the fact that any ceasefire negotiations must be linked to a humanitarian process that alleviates the suffering of civilians, and a political process led by democratic civilian forces that dismantles the Islamist regime, addresses the root causes of Sudan’s wars, and ultimately leads to building a new Sudan based on democracy, social justice and equality without discrimination.

The RSF did not seek or reject any platform to resolve the crisis and alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese and is fully prepared to participate in the negotiations that the United States intends to organize in Geneva on the 14th of August. The flexibility of the RSF in all previous and upcoming negotiations and talks is not due to weakness or weakness, but rather a desire to extinguish the fire of war that the old regime insists on continuing.

The statement continued: ‘Instead of agreeing to participate in the planned negotiations in Geneva, the leadership of the armed forces, as usual, came up with open games by creating obstacles aimed at avoiding participation in talks aimed at a ceasefire and addressing the humanitarian crisis. The decision, which was announced today, was taken at a meeting of the Islamist movement, which has a real interest in the continuation of the war, which it fancies can bring it back to power.
