Clashes between the Sudanese army and Al-Hilu movement in South Kordofan state

Rhino: Agencies – Violent clashes erupted on Tuesday between the Sudanese army and forces affiliated with the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North, led by ‘Abdel Aziz al-Hilu’, in the city of ‘Dilling’, South Kordofan state.

According to the Arab World News Agency (AWP), eyewitnesses reported on Tuesday that violent clashes took place between the two sides in the villages surrounding the city of Dilling, which is located 498 km south of Khartoum and about 115 km north of Kadugli, the capital of South Kordofan state.

According to witnesses, heavy clashes took place between the Sudanese army and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) in South Kordofan state.

The Port Sudan government spokesperson’s platform stated that the army’s 54th Infantry Brigade Command is conducting combing operations south of the city of Dilling, in South Kordofan State, including the city’s airport, Karkaraya Al Madrasa and Jebel Kun, and achieving a ‘major victory’ over the SPLM-N.

The SPLM controls the main road linking Dilling and Kadugli and has imposed a siege on the two cities for several months.

The state of South Kordofan is suffering from severe isolation, as commercial convoys have been halted and humanitarian aid is difficult to reach as a result of clashes between the army and the Rapid Support Forces on the one hand, and the army and the SPLM on the other.

In May, the Sudanese army and the SPLM exchanged accusations over the failure of negotiations hosted by Juba to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to South Kordofan and Blue Nile states.
