15 people drowned and more than 150 missing in shipwreck off Mauritania

Rhino: Agencies – The International Organization for Migration (IOM) said on Wednesday that 15 people drowned and more than 150 are still missing in a shipwreck off Mauritania, which was carrying 300 people.
The trans-Atlantic route from the West African coast to the Canary Islands, commonly used by African migrants to reach Spain, is one of the most dangerous migration routes in the world.
The summer is usually the busiest time of year on the route.
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) said in a statement on Wednesday that the Mauritanian coast guard rescued 120 people, 10 of whom were rushed to hospitals while efforts continue to find the missing.
