Khartoum: Rhino – The Sudan Founding Alliance welcomed the truce proposal put forward by the Quartet, which was presented by the US envoy for African affairs representing the Quartet, confirming that the position of the Rapid Support Forces and all components of the Sudan Founding Alliance, military, political and civilian, remains firm in accepting peace initiatives and ending the war.
The coalition added in a statement: “In a previous statement, we welcomed the Quartet’s statement, which is in line with what the Sudanese people achieved in the glorious December revolution, namely that the future of Sudan should not be left to terrorist groups linked to the Muslim Brotherhood.”
The statement said: “This war was not our choice before, it is not our choice now, and it will not be our choice in the future, but we took up arms in self-defense and in defense of what the Sudanese people wanted in the glorious December when they rose up against injustice, tyranny, terrorism, and oppression.”
The statement called on the international community and all mediators and partners to exert strong pressure on the parties that reject peace and work to prolong the war, and to classify the Muslim Brotherhood and its arm in Sudan, the National Congress Party, as a terrorist group.
The statement added: “Our hands will remain outstretched for peace, to stop the war, to rebuild what has been destroyed by the Islamists’ war of dignity, to return the displaced and refugees from our peoples to their homes and homeland, and to provide them with a decent life.”
