Hamdok to BBC: We will not co-operate with the dissolved National Congress to end the war

Rhino: Agencies – Former Sudanese Prime Minister and Chairman of the Coordination of Civil Democratic Forces Dr Abdullah Hamdok said that the Cairo Conference of Sudanese political forces, which was held in the Egyptian capital Cairo, is a first step towards stopping the war in Sudan.

In a television interview with the BBC, Hamdok revealed that President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has promised to address the difficult situation of Sudanese refugees in Egypt in response to his request.

Hamdok said: “I told Burhan, ‘If you are in the presidential palace, I am ready to come to you tomorrow, and the fact that you are running the country from Port Sudan is also an abnormal situation.

He continued:” Communications with Burhan have been cut off for months, and I still hope that he will respond to our invitation and sit down to discuss the cessation of the war.

Hamdok said: “Our issue is not with the Islamists, we are with anyone who calls for stopping the war and restoring democratic transition, but we will not cooperate with the National Congress Party, which has been dissolved by law.

“There is an urgent need for Egypt and the United Arab Emirates to enter the negotiating table, and if the Manama agreement is implemented, there will be a major breakthrough in the issue of stopping the war,” Hamdok said.
