Rhino: Agencies – Adidas Sports presented, on Sunday in Berlin, the ball with which the semi-finals and final of the European Cup of Nations (Euro 2024) will be played.
In this special design, the Berlin Olympic Stadium, where the new continental champion will be crowned on Sunday, is shown.
However, the ball is technically the same as the one that has been played since the tournament’s inception and was trialled at the Qatar World Cup and the Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
“What’s special about the ball is that any contact with its surface can be recorded,” said Willem Boyens, Adidas Director of Digital Strategy. “Every touch, whether it’s a kick or a dribble, is recorded by the sensor and sent to the International Broadcasting Centre.
One of the things the chip measures is the speed of the kick.
“I think the speed of the ball is an important piece of information in any game. “Now it can be accurately determined.
Other parameters can be measured, such as those related to trajectory and spin, which is why the official believes that this data could contribute to player rehabilitation in the future.
