For the third time: Drone attack targets River Nile State

Rhino: Agencies – Drones targeted Atbara Airport and the government secretariat in Damer in River Nile State on Thursday without causing any casualties, according to press statements by Sudanese army sources.

The sources said that the army’s ground defenses dealt with the drones and shot them down without losses, and the ground defenses of the 3rd Infantry Division in Shendi shot down a suicide drone without losses.

Last Monday and Tuesday, five drones targeted Atbara airport and the Grand Market area, with no reports of casualties. Atbara is about 310 kilometers from the capital Khartoum.

Atbara Airport is undergoing extensive maintenance and expansion work, including the renovation of the runway and the construction of new passenger lounges, in preparation for receiving domestic and international flights.

These efforts come within the framework of preparing the city to be an alternative center for some federal government institutions that may be relocated there, instead of Port Sudan.
