Israel: Erdoğan violates agreements by closing ports to trade

Rhino: Israeli Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz said on Thursday that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is violating agreements by closing ports to Israeli imports and exports.

Katz said he had instructed the Foreign Ministry to work on alternatives to trade with Turkey, focusing on local production and imports from other countries.

“This is how a dictator behaves, ignoring the interests of the Turkish people and Turkish businessmen, and ignoring international trade agreements,” the Israeli foreign minister added in a tweet on his X account on Thursday.

Turkish officials were quoted by Bloomberg on Thursday as saying that Ankara had halted all exports and imports to and from Israel.

Turkey last month imposed trade restrictions on Israel over what it said was Israel’s refusal to allow Ankara to participate in airdrops of aid to Gaza and the ongoing Israeli offensive on the territory.
