Rhino: Agencies – The UAE has committed to a 10-year, $1.4 trillion investment framework in the United States, a White House official said on Friday, after senior Emirati officials met with President Donald Trump this week.

The new framework ‘will significantly increase the UAE’s existing investments in the US economy’ in artificial intelligence infrastructure, semiconductors, energy and US manufacturing, the official told Reuters.

Days earlier, US President Donald Trump met with Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and UAE National Security Advisor, at the White House, where the two sides discussed strengthening strategic relations between their two countries in various fields.

According to the Emirates News Agency, Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed and the US president discussed ‘the prospects of the long-term strategic partnership between the UAE and the United States’ and ways to enhance it to reflect positively on the common interests of the two friendly countries.

The UAE official emphasized his country’s aspiration to continue strengthening its economic relationship with the US by enhancing their partnership and accelerating investments in the fields of artificial intelligence, advanced technology, infrastructure, industries, energy and healthcare, as these areas represent key pillars of growth and prosperity.

Before meeting with Trump, the UAE official met with Treasury Secretary Scott Pesant and discussed ‘aspects of joint co-operation between the UAE and Washington in various economic and financial aspects, and ways to enhance them to serve the interests of the two friendly countries.’
