Khartoum: Rhino – The Sudanese Emergency Lawyers Organization said on Friday that the Sudanese army forces deliberately targeted the vital facility with air and artillery shelling during different periods in 2023, causing catastrophic damage that included disabling the main control unit and stopping the main gasoline production plant completely in June 2023.

The destructive approach continued until this morning, when army forces bombed the only remaining warehouse under RSF control, completely destroying it, the emergency lawyers said in a statement on Friday.

The statement condemned the use of civilian facilities for military purposes or deliberately targeting them, stressing that this is a clear violation of international humanitarian law, including the Geneva Conventions, which oblige warring parties to protect vital facilities that serve the civilian population.
