Khartoum: Rhino – The Sudanese National Human Rights Observatory released a video on Thursday documenting the serious environmental consequences resulting from the use of chemical weapons, ranging from water pollution and the water turning green to mass fish deaths, as well as air pollution and the spread of toxic fumes. The Observatory described these as alarming indicators foreshadowing an environmental and health disaster that threatens the lives of civilians and the safety of natural resources along the Nile River.
The Observatory’s working group appealed to international and environmental organizations and relevant humanitarian agencies to intervene immediately and urgently to treat and decontaminate soil and water polluted by chemical weapons, and to work to protect civilians and mitigate the environmental and health disaster threatening the lives of millions and natural resources.
