Khartoum: Rhino – The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has announced that Sudan is experiencing its worst cholera outbreak in recent years, with the disease causing 2,500 deaths and more than 100,000 suspected cases across the country, amid a near-total collapse of the health infrastructure.
Jose Luis, head of the committee’s operations in Sudan, said that health conditions are rapidly deteriorating due to the war, which has destroyed vital infrastructure and left millions of people without clean water or medical care.
He noted that the current rainy season is accelerating the spread of the disease, calling for urgent action and international coordination to address the crisis and provide the humanitarian support needed to curb the cholera outbreak and save lives.”
