Nyala: Rhino – The Council of Ministers of the Government of Peace welcomed the sanctions announced by the US Treasury Department on Friday, September 12, 2025, against Jibril Ibrahim, Minister of Finance in the so-called illegitimate Port Sudan Authority, and the terrorist Al-Baraa Bin Malik militia.
In a statement on Saturday, the Council said that the US decision confirmed what advocates of peace and democracy have been saying, namely that those sanctioned are dangerous allies of the Iranian regime and destructive forces in Sudan, and that they played a key role in igniting and prolonging the war, and obstructing the Sudanese people’s march toward democratic transformation, in addition to their involvement in the arrests, torture, and executions of civilians opposed to the war.
The statement said: “These sanctions and precise descriptions have put their finger on the wound and correctly focused on the Islamists who ignited the war and continue to play the biggest role in its continuation, threatening the peace and security of Sudan and the entire region.”
The Council of Ministers of the Government of Peace renewed its full commitment, in accordance with the 2025 Transitional Constitution and the founding charter of the Sudan Alliance, to resist terrorism, terrorists, and anyone who seeks to undermine the stability of Sudan and the region.
